Since arriving almost two weeks ago to Zuerich I've been able to catch a number of greetings heard around town.
They are:
Hoi!
Hoi zusammen! (ya'll form)
Hi!
Hallo!
Gruezi (wohl)!
Gruezi mit einand! (plural form)
Servus!
Salut!
Ciao!
What I say:
Gruezi!
Gruezi mit einand!
Hallo! (to the hip kids)
When I forget I'm not in Germany, then I say: Guten Tag!, Guten Morgen!
What I'd like to say, if I knew folk better:
Gruess Dich!
Gruess Euch!
Wie geht's, wie steht's? (because it's funny)
